Drawing people
I could not be present for this session where we drew our peers but I didn't want to miss this opportunity for practice so I drew my fiancé instead.
A 2m drawing with no other restrictions.
2m continuous line drawing- interestingly I think this is more visually appealing than the one where I had less restrictions on my process.
Blind contour, blind mess? Either way I kind of love this. This is a way that I would never normally draw and yet the outcome is sort of charming and character full. Big surprise for me to enjoy this technique.Another very interesting one using blind contour AND continuous line this time.
2m again but this time I gave myself only the chunkiest paintbrush I had at hand to do it with. Pretty nice outcome I like how it has a mood to it that some of the others don't have.
Silhouette drawing has always been a least favourite technique of mine and this task did not change that however its always good to get out of your comfort zone.
Continuous line + pen + coloured paper. I love this outcome , the pop of pink really gives it something and I love how loose it is.
This was my opportunity to do one in my style. I absolutely love creating lighting and contrast and shade but I didn't want to just create something very basic so I went with experimental colours. Big fan of this outcome, its very me .
Evaluation of task:
Overall there's been some really insightful techniques in this exercise and some pleasantly surprising outcomes. It served as a good reminder that there's more than one way to complete an image and going at it really carefully and precisely isn't always the best way to get a good outcome. I have set a challenge for myself this year to use more techniques that I don't normally use as well as more mediums and this is setting me on a good track to achieve that goal.
